This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal information in compliance with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and applicable provincial privacy legislation.

1. Information we collect

We collect personal information that you voluntarily provide when you contact us through our website forms, register for programs, attend workshops, or communicate with our staff. This may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and information relevant to the programs or services you are seeking. We also collect certain technical information automatically when you visit our website, including your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and browsing behaviour through cookies and similar technologies.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to respond to your inquiries and provide requested services, administer and deliver our financial literacy, social support, and consulting programs, communicate with you about program updates, events, and opportunities, improve our website functionality and user experience, comply with legal obligations and regulatory requirements, and generate anonymized statistical reports about program participation and outcomes. We will only use your personal information for the purposes for which it was collected, or for purposes that are consistent with those original purposes, unless we obtain your further consent.

3. Disclosure of information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes. We may share your information with trusted service providers who assist us in operating our website, conducting our programs, or servicing you, provided they agree to keep your information confidential. We may also disclose your information when required by law, in response to legal processes, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Laksjd, our participants, or the public.

4. Data retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, to comply with legal obligations (including record-keeping requirements under the Income Tax Act and the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act), to resolve disputes, and to enforce our agreements. Program participation records are generally retained for a period of seven years following the end of your involvement with our programs, after which they are securely destroyed.

5. Your rights

Under PIPEDA and applicable provincial legislation, you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and request corrections if it is inaccurate or incomplete. You may withdraw your consent to the collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. You may also request that we delete your personal information, subject to our legal retention obligations. To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@laksjd.com.

6. Cookies and tracking technologies

Our website uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to enhance your browsing experience and analyze website traffic. For detailed information about the types of cookies we use and how to manage your preferences, please refer to our Cookie Policy.

7. Security measures

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit using TLS 1.3, access controls and authentication requirements for staff, regular security assessments and vulnerability testing, and secure disposal procedures for records containing personal information. While we strive to protect your personal information, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure.
